GW Instek introduces the GPT-9500 Series, a new generation of multi-channel withstanding voltage testers. The series includes two models, each equipped with a built-in 8-channel scanner and designed to comply with major international safety standards including IEC, EN, UL, CSA, GB, and JIS.

Designed for routine testing of electronic and winding components, the GPT-9500 Series integrates three essential test functions into a single instrument: AC Hipot testing (up to 5 kV), DC Hipot testing (up to 6 kV), and insulation resistance measurement (up to 1000 V).

The instrument design complies with the latest IEC-61010-2-034 safety requirements and is built on a 150 VA AC output platform. Channel configurations vary depending on the model:

  • GPT-9513: The 8 channels can be configured as H, L, or X. This configuration is ideal for winding components such as transformers, enabling multi-point testing within a single component.
  • GPT-9503: The 8 channels support H or X configuration, making it suitable for general electronic components such as passive components for high-voltage two-point testing.

The 4.3-inch color LCD provides complete measurement information along with a user-friendly interface that simplifies operation and parameter configuration. The AUTO test mode supports tabular display, allowing users to view all test results without switching screens.

A built-in statistical counter function enables quick access to the total number of tests performed as well as the number of failed (NO-GO) tests, without the need for an external counter.

All scanning channel connections are located on the rear panel of the tester. This design improves rack installation aesthetics while enhancing safety by preventing accidental contact with high-voltage outputs during operation. A disconnection detection function is also included to prevent incorrect test results caused by disconnected leads.

Additional features include parameter import/export via USB flash drive, allowing rapid duplication of test configurations across multiple production stations. The zero-start function protects the device under test (DUT) from instantaneous voltage impact, while the interlock function provides a hardware safety mechanism for connecting external protection devices.

The instrument also provides Signal I/O terminals and RS-232C / USB interfaces on the rear panel for external control, monitoring, and measurement data acquisition.

Compliance with IEC 61010-2-034 Design Requirements

GW Instak GPT-9500 - DESIGN-REQUIREMENTS

The GPT-9500 is the world's first multi-channel hipot tester compliant with IEC 61010-2-034 (Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use – particular requirements for equipment measuring insulation resistance and electric strength).

In addition to this compliance, the system incorporates several safety features including double insulation for both input and output voltages, a secure high-voltage output warning mechanism, and a post-test automatic discharge system. These safety measures ensure maximum user protection during operation.

User-Friendly Interface

GW Instak GPT-9500 - USER-INTERFACE

The GPT-9500 is designed for simplicity and ease of use. Function keys located at the bottom of the LCD screen allow users to quickly change test modes. Measurement values can also be adjusted using the rotary control knob, significantly improving operational convenience.

Front panel status indicators update in real time according to the information displayed on the screen. This enables users to monitor test conditions efficiently while minimizing the risk of operational errors. For example, when the output is active, the high-voltage indicator continually flashes.

Complete Information Display

GW Instak GPT-9500 - COMPLETE-INFORMATION

The large LCD screen clearly displays the test voltage, test parameters, test status, measured values, and judgment results simultaneously.

The display also shows channel usage status and statistical test data, including the total number of tests and the number of failed results. This allows users to obtain all necessary information without switching screens or connecting an external counter.

In addition, the AUTO mode supports a tabular display format, greatly enhancing observation and result analysis.

Convenient Parameter Duplication

GW Instak GPT-9500 - PARAMETER-DUPLICATION

The GPT-9500 series supports the export and import of configuration parameters through a USB flash drive. Once the parameters are configured on a single tester, they can be quickly duplicated across multiple units on production lines.

This capability significantly improves production testing efficiency while reducing errors caused by repetitive manual input.

Configuration Data Export / Import Mechanism

GW Instak GPT-9500 - DATA-EXPORT-IMPORT

All channel outputs of the GPT-9500 series are located on the rear panel. This design not only improves system organization and aesthetics but also effectively reduces the risk of accidental contact.

Each channel also includes a disconnection detection function to prevent invalid tests from being performed when connections are not properly established.
