Overview

The GPM-8320-60 and GPM-8330-60 are extended models of the GPM-8320 and GPM-8330 three-phase power meters. The GPM-8320-60 features 2 input channels, while the GPM-8330-60 features 3. The "-60" indicates that direct input current can reach 70 A (60 A guaranteed), enhancing high-current power measurement applications and reducing the need for external current transformers.

These meters have a DC, 0.1 Hz–100 kHz test bandwidth, 16-bit A/D converters, and a 300 kHz sampling rate. The 5-inch TFT LCD provides 5-digit readings and up to 25 power measurement parameters with high precision.

Key Features

  • Waveform display (voltage, current, power)
  • Integration measurement function and multi-order harmonic analysis (IEC 61000-4-7, 50/60 Hz)
  • External sensor input terminals (EXT1/EXT2)
  • Communication interfaces: RS-232C, USB device/host, LAN, optional GPIB
  • Multiple wiring modes: 1P3W, 3P3W, 3P4W, 3V3A
  • Minimum current range: 1 mA (resolution 0.1 mA); power measurement resolution: 0.1 mW
  • Crest factor: 3 (half range up to 6 A)
  • Voltage/current/power accuracy: ±0.1 % reading ±0.05 % range
  • Measurement modes: AC+DC, AC, DC, V-MEAN; up to 25 parameters

Display & Visualization

The meters utilize the TFT display to provide numerical and graphical results:

  • Numerical mode: General mode (4 tabs, 10 parameters per tab) and Multiple mode (simultaneously display 3 modules, 4 tabs, 8 parameters each)
  • Graphic mode: Simple oscilloscope for voltage, current, and power
  • Numerical or bar chart display for harmonic analysis by order

Auxiliary Measurements & Memory

For high-voltage measurements, VT ratio settings enable the use of external potential transformers. For high-current measurements, depending on the transformer type (voltage or current output), measurements can be taken via EXT1/EXT2 terminals or directly on the rear panel. Customizable auto-ranging saves time. Internal memory can store up to 10,000 measurement logs based on update rate or user-defined interval.

Data Acquisition & Control

Interfaces RS-232C, USB device/host, LAN, and optional GPIB allow reading and integration of measurement results into existing systems. USB host supports screen capture, data access, and firmware updates. The optional Digital I/O (DA12), factory-installed, can connect to a PLC or external recorder for automated measurements or long-duration recording.

Wiring Selection Key

GPM-8320-60/8330-60 Wattmeter - Wiring GPM-8320/8330-60 Wattmeter - Wiring diagram

The GPM-8320-60 and GPM-8330-60 offer multiple input voltage wiring configurations (1P3W, 3P3W, 3P4W, 3V3A). Users can select the wiring mode according to their specific requirements to measure parameters for each configuration, and even calculate efficiency.

Various Display Modes

GPM-8320-60/8330-60 Wattmeter - Versatile display

These meters provide two main display modes: numerical and graphical. In numerical mode, there are two options: Single and Multiple.

  • Single mode: Four tabs can be customized with module measurement settings. Each tab displays up to 10 measurement parameters (2 main + 8 secondary).
  • Multiple mode: Four tabs allow simultaneous observation of the same 8 measurement parameters from three different modules. Parameters in both modes can be arranged and customized as needed. A simple mode is also available, displaying the first four parameters regardless of the tab.

In graph mode, a simple oscilloscope function displays voltage, current, and power waveforms. The horizontal scale is adjustable (50 μs/div to 10 ms/div depending on the update rate), and three magnification ratios are available. Harmonic measurements can be displayed as bar charts by order, and all relevant values (voltage/current/power, voltage distortion percentage, current distortion percentage, power distortion percentage, voltage phase angle, current phase angle) can be fully recorded and presented.

Rich Measurement Parameters

GPM-8320-60/8330-60 Wattmeter - rich measurement

The GPM-8320-60 and GPM-8330-60 provide a wide range of measurement items, including:

  • Voltage, current, frequency
  • Active, apparent, and reactive power
  • Power factor, crest factor, total harmonic distortion
  • Maximum current ratio

These models also support time integration of power or current for the DUT. Users can set a period for instantaneous power integration, then divide by time to obtain average power. During integration, automatic range switching ensures complete results even with varying DUT power levels.

Superb Measurement Assistance

For measurement support, these meters excel:

  • High voltage/power measurements include voltage/power ratio settings to restore attenuated signals to true values.
  • High current measurement (up to 60 A direct input) is supported with current ratio settings and external current sensor terminals (EXT1/EXT2) for voltage-output type current transformers.
  • Four panel setups for storage/recall, with memory for up to 10,000 measurement logs. Measurements can be recorded at a set update rate or user-defined intervals.
  • USB host on the front panel supports screen capture, data storage, and firmware updates.

Flexible Level-Changing Mechanism

GPM-8320-60/8330-60 Wattmeter - Flexible mechanism

Automatic range switching during integration measurement allows users to calculate total DUT power variation from start to finish. Additionally, customizable range switching saves time and expedites testing.

Convenient and Practical Interface

GPM-8320/8330-60 Wattmeter - Interface

The GPM-8320-60 and GPM-8330-60 provide comprehensive communication interfaces: RS-232, USB, LAN, and optional GPIB, suitable for remote control and data collection via software commands.

The optional Digital I/O (DA12) interface provides three modes:

  • External control mode: Activate, stop, trigger, or reset integration measurements via external signals.
  • DA12 output mode: Define up to 12 measurement parameters (including integration results) to output at fixed (+5V full scale) or manual (±5V full scale) levels, compatible with data recorders.
  • Custom output mode: Requires communication interface, with each defined pin controlled through commands.
